On Saturday, September 23, 2023, about 6:15 PM, officers attached to the Micoud Police Station responded to a report of a vehicular collision along the Micoud to Vieux Fort highway at Canelles.
The incident involved a white Honda CRV, driven by Franzie Augustin, a thirty-one-year-old resident of High Street, Dennery.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the vehicle veered off the road and collided with a stationary vehicle. Augustin’s vehicle overturned due to the force of the collision, sustaining extensive damage as a result.
Augustin also sustained injuries but later succumbed to them, according to police. Three other male passengers on-board the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are said to be in stable condition.
According to police, every life lost on the road is a tragedy that can be prevented.
