NFL bettor loses $24,000 ‘no safety’ bet in Eagles-Buccaneers ‘MNF’ disaster

File this one away as one of the worst bets in recent memory.

One bettor hoped for offensive competency from two of the NFL’s best offenses, the Eagles and Buccaneers, and was hoping no safety would be scored in Monday’s game.

The individual wagered $24,000 for a potential $960 payout at BetRivers Sportsbook if no safety was recorded.

But that bettor should’ve known that the Eagles’ front seven is not to be trifled with, especially in front of the national audience that comes with “Monday Night Football.”

The Eagles tallied a safety in their 25-11 win to ruin this bettor’s night in one of the worst beats of the season.

It all unfolded after Jalen Hurts threw a jump ball to DeVonta Smith that was intercepted by cornerback Dee Delaney in the third quarter.

The Buccaneers took over at their own one-yard-line.

They predictably ran running back Rachaad White off the left tackle, and he was quickly swallowed up by an all-out blitz from the Eagles for the safety.

The bet was now a loss for bettors in horrific fashion.

Eagles linebacker Nicholas Morrow, No. 58, will likely be a player that is forever engrained in this bettor’s mind as he blitzed right through the Tampa Bay offensive line.

The Eagles easily won on “Monday Night Football” thanks to the feeding frenzy that Baker Mayfield faced.

Defensive Rookie of the Year favorite Jalen Carter (+110, FanDuel) had a 50-percent snap count and 0.5 sacks, with plenty of pressures of Mayfield.

Think twice the next time you bet on the Eagles’ defense to not do something.
