Pete Alonso is officially IL-bound.
The Mets placed the slugger on the injured list with a bone bruise and a sprain of his left wrist on Friday.
The typical return to play for Alonso’s type of injury is approximately 3-4 weeks.
The first baseman was hit in the left wrist with a 97-mph fastball from Braves hurler Charlie Morton in the first inning of Wednesday’s series opener.

Initial X-rays on Alonso’s wrist were negative, however the team sent him back to New York for further evaluation.
The team recalled Luis Guillorme as a roster replacement, while also designating Stephen Nogosek for assignment and recalling Zach Muckenhirn.
