Anne Heche in coma in 'extreme crisis', manager says

Actor Anne Heche is still hospitalized in a coma and is in "extreme critical condition," her manager said. I confirmed to CBS News on Monday. Heche was hospitalized on Friday after a car crashed into a house in Los Angeles, causing a fire.

"At this time, she is in extremely critical condition, with significant lung damage requiring ventilator and burns requiring surgical intervention," said Heche of her manager said in a statement. "She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident."

At about 11:00 am on Friday, Heche, 53, was driving his car to a 2nd floor near Mar Vista. A car slammed into a multi-storey house, causing a "great fire," according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Crew members dragged her Heche out of the vehicle and took her to hospital in critical condition, the fire department said. No other people were injured in the collision.

Heche's rep said Saturday that the actress was in a "stable condition." was saying

A crew of 59 firefighters took her just over an hour to fight the fire, according to the Fire Department. The house was "badly damaged".  

A security video obtained by CBS Los Angeles from a nearby homeowner shows a car speeding through a residential neighborhood just before the crash. was You can hear the crash in the video, but you can't see it.

CBS Los Angeles also captured footage of the crew pulling a charred and wrecked car out of the driveway of the house. 

Nothing was immediately announced as to the probable cause of the crash or whether Heche could be prosecuted.
