The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State for the 2023 election, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has condemned the comments made by the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, over his statement that the House will enact laws to protect the property acquisition and business rights of the indigenes of the state.

Obasa had earlier said in his acceptance speech after his re-election as the leader of the House that the state lawmakers would go to any length to protect the interests of the indigenes of the state and that such law would soon be enacted.

His remarks came on the heels of the controversy over the actual owners of Lagos State, which ensued during the build-up to the February and March general elections.

Commenting on the statement, Jandor cautioned that there was a need for public office holders to do away with matters that could spring up misunderstanding and further affect the peace in the state, adding that it was necessary for Obasa to tender a public apology.

The Head, Media and Communications for Jandor4Governor Campaign Organisation, Gbenga Ogunleye, in a statement on Friday, interpreted such comments as ‘reckless and volatile’, noting that other non-Yoruba speaking residents should rather be acknowledged by the state government for their huge economic contribution to the viability of the state.
