Abia Police Command, Special Protection Unit get new commissioners

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has ordered the posting of CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie to Abia State Command as the new Commissioner of Police.

Baba also appointed CP Mustapha Mohammed Bala to the Force Headquarters as the Commissioner of Police, Special Protection Unit (SPU).

The appointments were contained in a statement issued on Friday by Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi.

CP Kenechukwu, who holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Psychology from Anambra State University, joined the Force in 1992.

He has served in various operational, investigative, and administrative capacities in Ogun, Imo, FCT, Plateau, and Kaduna State Commands.

Kenechukwu attended tactical and leadership courses including Policy, Strategy and Leadership Course (PSLC) at NIPSS in Jos and International Course for Police Officers (China).

CP Mustapha is a graduate of the prestigious Bayero University Kano (BUK), where he obtained a B.Sc (Hons) in Sociology.

The new SPU chief holds a Masters degree in law and criminal justice from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria and also attended management and leadership courses.

The IGP charged them to continue to entrench professionalism and respect for rights of citizens in their new places of assignment.

Baba equally tasked them to pursue the task of ensuring public safety and security in their areas of responsibility with renewed vigor.
