DIANA’S FINAL JOURNEY
The first four episodes will also cover Diana's relationship with Dodi Fayed
THE moments leading up to Princess Di’s car crash death kick off the new series of The Crown.
Viewers will see Diana and lover Dodi Fayed surrounded by press motorbikes on their fateful final journey in Paris.
The first four episodes of the sixth series, on Netflix from November 16, will cover a few months in 1997 when Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki, 33, and Dodi, portrayed by Khalid Abdalla, 41, began dating.
A TV insider said: “In previous series the creators have had four episodes cover as much as four years.
"But this exception shows how the producers consider this to be a critical period for the Royal Family — more than any point in the 50 years the show has covered.
“Kicking the new series off with the death of the then Princess of Wales will be a bold decision but the creators insist they’ve dealt with it with great sensitivity and won’t show the crash itself.”
The final six episodes will drop on December 14 and cover the years up to 2005 when the then Prince Charles married Camilla.
Mines mission
DIANA’S landmark anti-landmines campaign is shown in the new series of The Crown.
Elizabeth Debicki is seen in protective gear as she recreates the Princess of Wales’ January 1997 visit to Angola.
