UN Coordinator, Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Discuss Ties With Afghanistan

United Nations Special Coordinator on Afghanistan, Feridun Sinirlioglu, on Tuesday, met Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Asad Majeed Khan and discussed the importance of a coherent international strategy to engage with Afghanistan.

According to Foreign Office, the visiting UN Special Coordinator on Afghanistan met with the foreign secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.

According to the statement, the foreign secretary shared Pakistan’s perspective and priorities in the context of Afghanistan with the visiting UN official.

This comes a day after Feridun Sinirlioglu and Hina Rabbani Khar, Pakistan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Hina Rabbani Khar emphasized the need for international efforts to focus on developing sustainable economic pathways for ordinary people in Afghanistan, particularly women and girls.

She also affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to work with the international community towards this end.

Since the Taliban took control of the country, they introduced suppressive policies which restricted women from their fundamental and human rights, including education, working with national and international organizations, and public space.
