Traffic accident kills 3, injures 5 in Northern Afghanistan

On Sunday, at least three people died, and five others were injured in a traffic accident in the Northern Province of Samangan, Afghanistan.

The incident occurred after the vehicle turned turtle on the Samangan-Baghlan highway.

According to Sayed Usman Hamidi, a provincial health official, three dead bodies and five injured, including three in critical condition, have been taken to the local hospital.

A similar incident occurred in the Badghis province, killing three people, including the truck driver.

“the deadly accident occurred at 8:00 a.m. local time when a fast-driven truck turtle was in the Band-e-Sabzak area outside of the provincial capital Qala-e-Naw,” a statement said.

In the last few weeks, many traffic accidents in different provinces have resulted in the deaths of over 33 people and the injury of 45 others.

The current increase in traffic accidents is directly linked to reckless driving, dilapidated road, poorly maintained vehicles, and lack of attention to traffic regulations.
