International Community Must Not Abandon Afghan People: Pakistan FM

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called on the international community not to abandon the people of Afghanistan amid a dire humanitarian crisis.

While speaking at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, he warned the international community that the world must engage in a constructive approach to provide support and prevent any potential humanitarian crisis in the country.

“The international community must continue to provide support and assistance to avert any potential humanitarian disaster and help build a sustainable economy for the long-term development of Afghanistan,” Zardari said.

Meanwhile, he called on the de facto authorities to be “responsive” to the expectation of the international community.

He said the interim administration must “ensure inclusivity, respect for human rights of all Afghans and effective counter-terrorism action.”

Since the Taliban took control of the country, the security situation of Pakistan has deteriorated due to the increased attacks of militants, including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
