According to the Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Regional Hospital pediatric ward staff in Mazar-e-Sharif City, seasonal diseases like diarrhea are rising among children and have killed six kids in the past two months.
According to Abdul Raouf Forough, director of the pediatric ward of Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Hospital, four children died last month, and two more in the second half of May.
He also elaborated that around 150 to 250 children with this kind of disease visit the pediatric section of the hospital.
“One of the reasons is the hot weather, and people do not use clean water, they use contaminated water, or children do not feed on mother’s milk, and they do not observe environmental and personal hygiene, and also use unclean fruits and vegetables,” said Forough.
Pediatricians also said that diarrhea is the second disease that kills the most children worldwide, and they urge families to preserve their children’s hygiene seriously.
Balkh officials said that the rise in ‘disease’ was due to the warm weather, practising not good hygiene, and contaminated water.
